One of the biggest attractions of visiting Lanzarote is shopping. Due to the low tax rates in the Canary Islands, certain products can be between 10% and 30% cheaper than in the rest of Europe. Some of the products which have competitive prices include electric appliances, perfumes, cosmetics, tabacco, alcohol and vehicles.

Lanzarote has several areas for shopping:

Arrecife centre is one of the most important on the island. There are all kinds of shops to be found in Calle Real or León y Castillo and in the streets around La Plazuela, such as electrical appliances shops, shops where you can buy pottery, table cloths, wine, cheese and typical products from Lanzarote as well as clothes, shoes and music shops. Arrecife also has several shopping centres such as Spínola, Buganvillas and Arrecife shopping centre.

On the way to the south and close to Arrecife, you will find Playa Honda industrial park and the Deiland shopping centre as well as Megacentro and various hypermarkets and businesses dedicated to different activities.

The avenue along the beaches in Puerto del Carmen is full of small shops where you can buy all sorts of souvenirs, clothes, surfing accessories, table clothes and electrical appliances. This town also has an important shopping centre, called the Biosfera Plaza, where you can buy clothes.

Costa Teguise, being a resort, has a wide variety of shops selling souvenirs, beach wear, electronic appliances, handicrafts and typical products. In Las Cucharras shopping centre, you can buy towels, swim wear, sun glasses and all kinds of clothes and accessories necessary for the island as well as electronic appliances and jewelry.

The shopping area in Playa Blanca is located on the sea front, in Limones street and in Papagayo avenue. Here you can find handicrafts from Lanzarote and all kinds of shops selling electronic appliances, clothes and souvenirs. The Papagayo shopping centre and Rubicón port offer a wide variety of shops.

A great attraction for the tourists in Lanzarote are the markets. One of the most famous takes place every Sunday in Teguise from 9.00am to 14.00 pm. This market sells everything from handicrafts to imitation jewelry to typical products of the island. Playa Blanca and Haria market take place on Saturday mornings from 10.00 to 14.00. Every Friday afternoon there is a handicraft market in the Pueblo Marinero in Costa Teguise. There is also an agricultural and fish market every Saturday morning between 10.00 and 14.00 in Tíasnext to San Antonio chapel.

The Tinajo agricultural and handicraft market takes place in Mancha Blanca next to the Virgen de los Dolores chapel every Sunday between 9.00 and 14.00 and offers the tourist a great choice of typical products from Lanzarote.
